Why Choose This Card
The MyCard Premier Card is a clear step up if you travel regularly and want tangible perks, without going all the way to a high-end premium card.
For a $300 annual fee, the 110,000 Velocity Points⁹ sign-up bonus is strong, especially if Velocity is your main program. The $8,000 spend requirement is higher than entry-level cards, but reasonable for anyone putting everyday expenses through their card.
Where this card starts to justify its higher fee is in the benefits. You get complimentary domestic and international travel insurance, plus two Priority Pass lounge visits each year² – useful if you don’t fly often enough to earn status, but still want a more comfortable airport experience.
The earn rates are also better than the lower-tier MyCard options, particularly for online and overseas spending, making this a good fit for frequent travellers or anyone who shops online regularly. There’s also a concierge service and the same travel discounts seen across the range, including up to 15% off on selected hotels with Luxury Escapes⁷ and 10% off selected Expedia and Wotif hotels⁸, which can offset part of the annual fee if you use them.
This card makes sense if you want Velocity Points, travel insurance, and some lounge access, without paying top-tier fees. Hardcore points maximisers may still want more, but for many travellers, the MyCard Premier strikes a well-balanced middle ground between value and comfort.
