Why Choose This Card

This card is a smart choice for travellers who want to start earning Qantas Points without stepping into the high-fee, premium card tier. It sits just below the Altitude Black in Westpac’s Qantas range, offering a more accessible annual fee, slightly lower earn rates, and fewer perks, but still enough to deliver meaningful value for travellers.

With an earn rate of 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 on international purchases and 0.5 points per $1 on everyday spend, it’s well suited for those who want to keep accumulating points steadily from daily transactions. While the earn rate isn’t as high as the Black version, the lower annual fee helps balance that trade-off for cardholders who spend moderately rather than heavily.

We also like that the Platinum still includes Complimentary International Medical Travel Insurance, which adds tangible peace of mind for overseas trips, a feature often missing in entry-level cards. For many users, that combination of lower cost, reliable earn rates and essential cover makes this card an appealing middle ground between a basic Qantas Points earner and a fully-fledged premium product.

Summing up: the Westpac Altitude Platinum Card

The Westpac Altitude Qantas Platinum Card is a mid-range card that will suit those looking to earn Qantas Points.

The card has a competitive Qantas Points earn rate compared to similar cards in the market and has a relatively high annual cap on the number of points that can be earned, which is definitely a perk not seen on most competitor cards.
